We involved twelve teams from technical and emergency departments collecting and managing country health data for public health surveillance at the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean. Each team completed an online survey and a structured interview. We analysed all collected data to provide:

  • A map of country health data collected by each team and data exchanged across them
  • A profile for each team detailing its scope, country health data collected, information material produced, and data exchanged with other teams
  • A description of online platforms in use at the Regional Office for data collection and data dissemination.

We organized and facilitated a workshop with WHO staff and consultants. Over three two-hour online sessions, results from the scoping review and the mapping exercise were presented and interactive methodology used to reach:

  • An agreement to strengthen integration at the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean
  • An agreement on objectives and modalities of an integrated public health surveillance strategy for Member States in the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region.
