Internal review of WHO response to Ebola outbreaks in the DRC

Performed activities
To improve its emergency response capacity, the WHO requested Sigia to support an internal review of its response to the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th Ebola Virus Disease outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
We developed a detailed protocol and identified twenty main areas of interest.

We collected information through:
- A literature review
- Twenty-five semi-structured interviews with WHO staff, consultants and close partners
- A dedicated online interactive workshop with 32 WHO staff and close partners held in French and English over four three-hour sessions

We provided the internal review report and presentation in English and French to specify:
- The main challenges faced by the organization and lessons learned during these outbreaks
- The best practices implemented
- Recommendations for strengthening WHO’s future involvement in public health emergencies
